Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy encompasses a holistic approach focusing on improving an individual’s independence with activities of daily living.
We begin with an assessment to understand the physical, mental, emotional, & social aspects affected by a person’s injury/diagnosis. Patients can expect one on one, ongoing assessment & treatment based on their goals & needs.
What is Neuro-Developmental Treatment?
Head and neck cancer rehabilitation is a comprehensive process that can involve a range of techniques, including manual techniques including IASTM, thyroid/hyoid mobilizations and passive stretching to decrease tightness and improve range of motion. Techniques utilized in PT can help break down scar tissue/restrictions and hopefully assist these patients with their overall swallowing and speaking abilities. This population has a high risk of aspiration when eating/drinking, so it is crucial to decrease the risk of this occurrence.
